Direct Mail Works for Political Campaigns
Many political campaigns are focusing on social media, email and the internet – ignoring direct mail can be a fatal mistake
Here are the reasons why:
1. Let’s face it people still like to get mail. Nearly 100% of American households check their mail on a daily basis. We often hear of people complaining about junk mail, but they continue to read their mail and when it does not arrive they often are annoyed and miss it.
2. Direct mail can be very nimble. A message and art can be changed within 24 hours to meet the needs of ever changing political campaigns
3. Delivery by the USPS is a trusted source and does carry credibility
4. You can precisely target your audience. Unlike TV or radio your message will be delivered to the district you are interested in targeting. You can also target the message to people who are registered to vote and are thus are qualified leads
5. Design and message are critical. With direct mail you will have a few seconds of your target audience’s attention of the person receiving the mail. Some people are actively looking for political mail, but the majority are not and it is these people you must focus your eye catching design and message towards.
With elections coming up, be sure to include direct mail in your political campaign to make sure voters are informed about your issue or candidate.
